You can never have enough family!
I finally had time, during a visit to the Bay Area, on Saturday to drive up to Shingle Springs and visit my sister Liana, her husband Bill, and their son Jason. Jay has just been accepted as a trainee at the FAA, and may wind up an air traffic controller-- a career he really wants, since he decided he didn't want to go to college, at least right now.

While I was there, Liana arranged for us to have lunch at a really nice place in Sutter Creek, called "Susan's Place" with my second cousin Charlotte, who I had last seen at her grandfather's (my uncle Louie's) funeral when she was 14. She's all grown up now, with kids of her own, and it was a delight to see her again and do some catching up. I enjoyed meeting her husband and her daughter Sam, and I hope we get to see each other again sooner than that many years.

For dinner, Bill and Liana took me to a restaurant owned by some friends in Cameron Park, called "Snooty Frog" where we had excellent food and a terrific barbera whose winery I misremember.

Then I drove back to San Jose so I could catch my flight home on Sunday morning.

Waves high!

Shoulda said something.

Well, I would have, but I knew I wouldn't have time to do anything else. I got in Thursday afternoon, dinner Thursday night, board meeting at Cypress Friday morning, meetings Friday afternoon and evening...drive to Placerville and back on Saturday and airplane on Sunday morning.

Maybe next time...I have 4 board meetings a year...
