I am, of course, really delighted (squeeeeeeee!) to be asked to be on panels at cons. It is still a very new experience, especially since I have so little published SF&F output as yet. I'm working on the final draft of a story that I've sold to Grantville Gazette called "A Great Drowning of Men" that I have to turn in this weekend. I'm also working on the final draft of a story I'm submitting to Eric Flint for Ring of Fire III called "And the Devil Will Drag You Under."

Ahem.

Anyway, here's my panel schedule for Capricon this weekend:

Spider Robinson and Robert Heinlein - Thursday, 02-11-2010 - 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm - Birch A

Spider Robinson has long acknowledged his debt to Robert Heinlein. In 2006, Robinson was able to pay this debt back when he collaborated with Heinlein on Variable Star. This panel looks at the two authors' similarities and differences.

Job Networking: Have You Been Laid Off? Is Your Firm Hiring? - Friday, 02-12-2010 - 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm - Elm

We know the job market stinks. Whether you believe we have yet to bottom out or are in the midst of a recovery, it doesn't really matter if you still need a job. Come and discuss job hunting techniques and perhaps get the all important lead for your next job.

Chicago of Tomorrow - Saturday, 02-13-2010 - 10:00 am to 11:30 am - Birch A

In this interactive panel event, the panelists and audience discuss the changes they would like to see in Chicago (both realistic and pie in the sky) over the next twenty years. The panelists will address the various suggestions and look at their feasibility.

Evolution of Vampirism: A Roundtable Discussion - Saturday, 02-13-2010 - 10:00 pm to 11:30 pm - Birch B

There was a time that vampires were dark, evil creatures who viewed humans as cattle. Now they are as likely to spend pages upon pages sympathizing with their food sources. How did this change take place and, despite the current popularity of vampires, is it a good change for the royalty of the undead?

How are they doing the panels Spider was supposed to participate in, since he's not going to be there?

Working actually pretty well, Spider and Jeanne appeared through the magic of voip and Skype. I was impressed. Cons may be able to save lots of travel for the GOHs..

Good! This looks like a good solution to the situation. Now if Jeanne can have a miracle...
