Here's the poll!

Travis "Doc" Taylor brought it to my attention by posting in his Baen's Bar conference that two of his books (his first two, IIRC) were nominated for best SF novel in this poll. Here's what I replied to him:

Sorry, Doc. Congratulations for getting nominated. More conga rats for
getting nominated twice. I liked and reviewed your books and I read them
more than once, which is my way of saying they were good.

But there were quite a few SF novels published in 2005 that were better than
yours. A small list:

"The Rivers of War" by Eric Flint
"A Mankind Witch" by David Freer
"Music to My Sorrow" by Misty Lackey and Rosemary Edghill
"Crystal Soldier" by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller
"A Brother's Price" by Wen Spenser
"The Eternity Artifact" by L. E. Modesitt, Jr.
"The Hallowed Hunt" by Lois McMaster Bujold

My problem is not your books, but that every book on that list was NOT
nominated for the category you were nominated in.
I checked. Every single one of those books, and I didn't make an exhaustive
list, was published in 2005, and was either science fiction or fantasy, and
was a novel.

Congratulations, but I wouldn't make a big deal out of it. I will be writing
in some of these other books, if I can, and voting for one of them.
